A Message for Musicians
“If you or your band plays unique music and you believe you’ve got what it takes to be great, we want to hear from you! Please click here to submit a video or MP3 of your work for review and consideration.”
The Michael V. Holdt Music Foundation is seeking exceptional bands and musicians with a distinctive, original sound who share our passion for bringing great music to communities and expanding opportunities for artists to be heard.
Our goal is to help talented musicians overcome barriers; develop the resources they need, gain meaningful exposure, and turn their musical aspirations into real opportunities.
Selected artists may be invited to participate in Foundation-sponsored concerts, showcases, community events, and other performance opportunities, while receiving practical support to help them pursue their musical goals.
The Foundation’s commitment goes beyond providing a stage. Depending on the needs of the artist and available resources, support may include professional mentorship and guidance, studio recording time, website development, social media and promotional assistance, instruments and equipment, and access to tools and training that can help artists strengthen their careers and reach new audiences.
Bring your music. Share your talent. Join our mission.
At the Michael V. Holdt Music Foundation, we believe music has the power to inspire, connect, uplift, and strengthen communities. Yet many gifted musicians never receive the opportunities, resources, or exposure they need to be heard. Our mission is to help change that.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, that brings great yet often unknown bands to the forefront so that the masses can experience them and enjoy their music. In doing this, we support talented musicians by helping remove barriers that can stand between their talent and their dreams as we provide them exposure. Through mentorship, performance opportunities,
studio time, promotional support, websites and social media, equipment, professional guidance, and other essential resources, we help artists develop their potential, reach new audiences, and pursue meaningful opportunities in music.
Our mission also extends to the communities we serve. By creating and supporting affordable concerts, showcases, and community events, we make live music more accessible to families and audiences while providing emerging and deserving artists with a stage on which to share their original work.
Every artist deserves to be heard, and every community deserves access to the joy and connection of live music. We bring them together by supporting musicians, creating opportunities, and making music accessible to all.
Supporting artists. Creating opportunities. Bringing communities together through music.
The Business of Music is part of the Michael V. Holdt Music Foundation’s nonprofit community outreach, offering open and accessible conversations that inform, uplift, and empower musicians and the public about the realities of the music industry.
Podcast hosts Michael V. Holdt and Michael J. Wyatt volunteer their time and professional experience to bring listeners candid discussions about musicians’ way of life, their lifestyles, the ups and downs they experience, and the public’s perception of the music industry. These discussions are designed for bands and musicians, as well as members of the public who are
interested in bands and their music.
We discuss the opportunities, challenges, decisions, and realities musicians face throughout their careers. Artists, producers, and other industry professionals share firsthand experiences from independent musicians working toward their first meaningful opportunity to seasoned professionals discussing career decisions, contracts, promotion, performance, recording, and the changing business of music.
The program is designed with a public-service approach similar in spirit to community and public radio: making useful music-industry information and real-world perspectives available to musicians, aspiring artists, families, music lovers, and the community at large. By having conversations that often happen behind closed doors and bringing them directly to the public, the Foundation seeks to increase awareness of how the music industry works and how its practices and changes affect the people who create, perform, and enjoy music.
Whether you are an aspiring artist trying to understand the road ahead, an established musician navigating the industry, or simply someone who loves music and wants to understand what happens behind the scenes, these conversations offer real experiences, practical insights, and perspectives you can relate to and use.
This volunteer effort is another way the Michael V. Holdt Music Foundation gives back to the community using the experience and voices of music professionals to share knowledge,
encourage artists, increase public awareness, and make the business behind the music more accessible to everyone.
